Sri Krishna Janmashtami Celebrations at PrashantiNilayam

Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with élan and devotion at Prashantinilayam today.
Morning Function
The programme commenced at 0830 hrs with a half-an-hour Veda chanting followed by Madhurashtakam composed by Vallabhacharya and Achyuthashtakam composed by Shankaracharya. Other songs rendered faultlessly by the students included Gana Sundara Karuna Rasa Mandira, Mohana Murali, Manasa Sancharare of Thyagaraja, , Chandana Charchita Neelakalebhara in Malayalam ending with a Hindi devotional number invoking Baba.
Even as the songs continued, the colourful procession of quadrupeds and birds from Sri Sathya Sai Gokulam arrived at the Mandir escorted by the Nadaswaram troupe from the Institute. The quadrupeds included cows and calves, deers, rabbits, peacocks, doves and the canine 'Jolly' from Senior Hostel.
With bhajans continuing, primary school children followed by senior students offered prayers . A couple of white doves were released symbolising peace unto the world.
Evening Function
Devotees from Visakhapatnam district of AndhraPradesh staged a Musical Dance Drama entitled "Sai Krishnaya Charanam Namo Namah".
The presentation was based on the theme,drawing similarities between the two Avatars,Krishna and Baba.Interspersed with colourful dances sequences by children,elucidating on the glory of both the Avatars,the presentation illustrated incidents from the lives of the two Avatars.
