Annual Sports and Cultural Meet:

Morning Session:

In the morning session, after the performance of the Prasanthi Nilayam Campus(since reported) the women students of the Anantapur Campus made  a presentation entitled 'SAI' -Seeking the Almighty Inside.

After an Urdu verse that set the theme and the mood, the students performed graceful movements to the lilt of a song which reiterated that God is all-pervasive. This performance in the Sufi tradition was followed by Tanoura, an Egyptian Sufi religious dance. In their colorful skirts, the dancers spun around continuously to represent the circle of life. Spinning their attire even above their head levels, these dervishes communicated that when the veil of illusion is lifted, reality will be revealed.

In the third item, the students shifted from the profundity of the Egyptian dervishes to the purpose of the Egyptian pyramids, through formations of human pyramids. The significance of the shape of the pyramid, the construction of the pyramid etc., were depicted through some formations.

After this the students came gliding, with grace and grit, on roller blades and roller skates.

The final item from the Anantapur Campus was a mass drill  Rotating props indigenously designed, lent grace and a pleasing spectacle to the eye. The brief yet presentation ended by reinforcing the theme that going around, climbing upward or pushing forward will take us nowhere. Only going inward will take us onward.

Evening Session:

The evening presentation commenced with the children  from Sri Sathya Sai Primary School  with a riot of colours . Perfect synchronisation, harmony, balance and skill of the students was the highlight of their performance.

This was followed by the children  from Smt. Easwaramma English Medium School who gave a gave a  Krishna  amidst Gopalas dance.

Girl students from College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, SSSIHMS, Whitefield gave a brief performance with demonstration of the art of Karate

The last performance for the session was from the students of SSSIHL, Brindavan Campus. They made an exhibition of the games of football, basketball, Volleyball and Cricket. Their performance ended with fire drill, with various formations like Swastik, Sudarshan Chakra and Mexican wave were the highlights of the evening programme.

This was the first Sports and cultural meet without the physical presence of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The most significant -and touching-feature of the entire day was that the programs were designed, constructed and choreographed as if Baba was present. Right from offering a flower to him seeking his permission to commence each segment of the program up to the final Arati, the actions of all the participants brought back nostalgic memories of yesteryears .
