Moorthi Sthapana at Dharmakshetra, Mumbai:
On the occasion of the completion of 44 years of Dharmakshetra, the abode
of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Mumbai, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations,
Maharashtra and Goa had arranged a ceremony for the purpose of unveiling the
Idol of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in the lawns of Satyadeep.
Before the unveiling, an old bhajan depicting the significance of
Dharmakshetra was rendered by a group of bhajan singers.Among the chanting
of Sri Sai Gayatri and blowing of conchs, the idol was formally unveiled at
the hands of Sri Indulal Shah Trustee in the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust
and Smt. Sarlabahen Shah, National Coordinator, Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas.The
unveiling was followed by offering of the garland of rose flowers and
floral bouquets by the office bearers and devotees who were present on this
occasion.
Immediately on unveiling, the bhajan group rendered the song “Sumar Manuva,
Sumar Manuva, Sumar Re Panchtatva Suvichar”. This particular song depicting
the core message of the symbols of world religions and the unity of faiths,
practice of values in the life and the importance of the attainment of
Divinity was composed for rendition on the occasion of the inauguration of
Sarva Dharma Stoop at Prashanti Nilayam on 23 November 1975. It may be
recalled that the same song was included in the historic film Shirdi ke
Saibaba.
The idol of Sri Sathya Sai Baba has been installed on the same spot where he
used to sit on the hillock of Dharmakshetra Hills during the stage of its
construction in 1967-1968 and from where he later gave Darshan.
A public meeting was held later where there was a welcome address and
presentation of a brief report (on Dharmakshetra and seva activities in the
states) by Dr.Keki Mistry, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Maharashtra followed by
talks by two guest speakers.
The first speaker was Sri V S Das, Executive Director and also First
Appellate Authority under Right to Information Act, Chief Vigilance Officer
and Central Public Information Officer, Reserve Bank of India. He narrated
some of his personal experiences with Bhagavan during His physical lifetime
and later.Second speaker was Dr. Shashank Shah, Post-Doctoral Fellow, Sri
Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Prashanti Nilayam. Dr. Shashank
made a presentation on 44 years of Dharmakshetra.
The statue was sculpted by Sri Bakul Patel, Sri Bakul Patel and his late
father Sri Madhubhai Patel had made a statue of Sri Saibaba of Shirdi which
was once unveiled by Sri Sathya Sai Baba at the Hill View Stadium at
Prashanti Nilayam.
A captivating cultural Programme titled ‘Bhakta Sakha Vithala’ depicting the life and devotion of the Saints in Maharashtra was presented by the students of Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas.
