Grama Seva 2011 Commences Tomorrow
The Anantapur, Prasanthi Nilayam, and Whitefield Campuses comprising roughly 1300 students and teachers in total, prepare the prasadam and carry out the distribution. While students and teachers of the Anantapur Campus prepare the laddu and rice prasadam, the students and teachers of the Prasanthi Nilayam and Whitefield Campuses visit the villagers at their door steps and distribute the prasadam. These students and teachers travel to the villages in canters (small trucks) which total over 50. The prasadam is comprised of a dhoti and saree for the head of each family and spouse, and laddu and rice prasadam for each resident of the house. As some villagers may be working in the fields or in their places of work, rice and laddu prasadam is also distributed to those villagers who are found outside of home and also to those who do not have shelter above their heads. In recent years, approximately 3 lakh laddus and rice packets, and 50,000 dhoties and sarees have been distributed as prasadam.
